Some logical thought about canine and feline diets and two short true stories
read below.
Try to think what your dog or cat's ancestors ate, now take a moment or two to think and realize that, that is truly their natural diet. It was not cooked, it did not contain grains, starches or fillers. What that diet primarily consisted of was meat, both muscle meat and organ meat, bone and some ancillary fruits or vegetables which were predigested by there prey animals.
Today for convenience we generally feed a dry or kibbled diet. Many of them are of very high quality, made under strict controls and rigid guidelines. These foods, especially the better ones are keeping our pets happy and healthy.
They are evolving at a fast pace and are now offered grain free, a fine improvement over those foods with grains. These foods may use "natural" ingredients but does that make them the "natural" diet of canines and felines?
Well considering what we've said in the first paragraph the answer is a resounding NO! So how can we really feed our pets the finest, truly natural diet, and maintain a healthy balance and be assured of its quality and safety? Well for my new puppy, Sadie, the answer was and still is the use of a variety of commercially prepared raw foods. If the proof of the pudding is in the feeding she is doing great on her diet and it has totally solidfied my belief in the products.
Below is a true story of one of our customers, there are countless other stories with happy ending just like it:
I can't tell you how many books and pamphlets I had read over the years advocating the use of raw diets, each one retells miracle stories of dogs and cats and their recovery form various ailments when put on a raw diet. Well we had one of those happen right here at Pets Pets Pets: Just this February a customer came in with her dog who was suffering from horrible skin issues, sadly the owners had gone through exhaustive veterinary care with no results and the family was ready to have the dog put to sleep. My comment was "why not try raw, what do you have to lose"? The customer took the bait and within a month happily reported that the dog was well on its way to recovery and is now happy and doing wonderful. I hope she will bring in before and after pictures soon.
